Whipray Caye (Whippari on some charts): Located 11 miles off the coast of Placencia, Belize at GPS coordinates N: 16.° 32' 22.8", W: 88° 13' 03.5", Whipray Caye Lodge is accessible by boat from the Village of Placencia.

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

All international flights arrive at Goldson International Airport near Belize City. Airport Code is BZE. Flights from the US and Canada are offered by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United, US Air, Southwest Airlines, TACA Airlines, Northwest Airlines, from the UK, and from Paris via Air France/Delta. It is best to arrive into the Belize City's Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) as early in the day as possible in order to make your necessary in-country connections and allow ample in-country travel time to Placencia. Once you arrive in Placencia, you will be met at the airstrip to make your final transfer by boat to the lodge.

LOCAL AIRLINES: Maya Island Air and Tropic Air are the local commuter airlines.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

All U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within six (6) months of trip dates.

Please be sure that your passport has at least two blank, unstamped pages remaining in back, and that it is not torn, delaminated, or damaged in any way.

Citizens of the U.S., the British Commonwealth, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the European Community are NOT required to have Visas.

MINORS TRAVELING TO BELIZE WITHOUT BOTH PARENTS

If you are planning on traveling with minors, remember that all children 18 years of age or younger entering Belize accompanied by only one parent or legal guardian must have a NOTARIZED letter of consent from the other parent stating the child/children have his/her permission to enter the country. Single parents need a notarized documentation of divorce decree or death certificate of spouse. Minors unaccompanied by either parent require a NOTARIZED letter of consent signed by both parents. CLOTHING

Climate is subtropical with annual average temperature of 80 degrees F.

You'll mostly wear casual, tropical weight clothing, jeans, shorts and short-sleeved shirts (long pants and long-sleeve shirts for long days in the sun) or t-shirts.

Pack a hat to protect your head. Include a sweater, lightweight waterproof jacket.

They may be needed on boat trips as well as at night and early morning in higher, cooler elevations, or unexpected cool days during winter.

Be sure to take a change of clothing in your carry-on luggage in case luggage is temporarily lost or misplaced in transit.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE

$1US = $2BZ. US currency is accepted and appreciated everywhere. Credit cards (Visa and MasterCard) and travelers checks are accepted at most places. Leave your American Express card at home. You can also get a cash advance on your credit card at the Atlantic Bank ATM machine & inside Scotia Bank in Placencia. It is a good idea to bring small bills with you because you may have a hard time getting change for US$50's and $100's.

PASSPORTS: Passports are required. No visas are required for U.S. or Canadian citizens.

DEPARTURE: $40.00US departure tax (cash) per person required when leaving the Belize Int'l Airport.

TIME ZONE: The time zone is Central Standard; Mountain Standard during Daylight Savings time in the US. Daylight Savings is not observed in Belize.
