Lodging on Whipray Caye is built for sustainable tourism…

Very basic -

two double beds in each room, ceiling fans and cross-through ventilation from windows on every outside wall, clear and natural rainwater fit for drinking or a nice warm shower on those rare chilly days, with 12v and generator-supplied current in every room - that's the fun of island life. Clear clean waters sparkle with sunlight right outside your door, as you lie in bed watching the incredible Belizean sunrise.

The accommodations: 2 unique 2-room cabanas (private entry and bathroon for each bedroom), 8 full-size beds total, are basic and CLEAN. At the end of the day relax before dinner, in a comfortable hammock on your veranda, and enjoy the view of the glorious Caribbean Sea, contemplating your day with a nice cold Belikin beer at hand.

Sea Urchin Bar/Restaurant:

We also feature the famous Sea Urchin Bar and Restaurant, one of the most unique in the entire area! The kitchen serves up a variety of Belizean and American food, mostly served fresh from the sea, and the fully stocked bar serves the coldest beer for miles around, all enjoyed under the thatched roof and open to the cooling breezes so you can view spectacular sunsets as you eat. Meals are all served Family Style and are fixed price. Call ahead or email for reservations if you are not a guest on the caye. We love to see the sailing boats tied up to our 2 mooring buoys on the west side of the caye.

Typical Length of Stay

Standard package is a seven (7) nights package / six (6) fishing days (Saturday to Saturday) although trips of any length can be arranged. You can arrive and depart on any day of the week.

Non-Angling Activities and Options

While Whipray is primarily a fishing destination, non-anglers can enjoy basic options such as swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing on the beach. For non-anglers visiting the mainland, the Placencia area offers a wide variety of other activities, including naturalist excursions, tours of Mayan ruins, beach combing, swimming, trips to town, bicycle rentals and more.

Internet / Communications

Wi-Fi is available free of charge for Lodge guests. Please bring your own laptop or PDA to access the internet. Depending on your service plan, some cell phones may also work at the lodge.
